Dear applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the dok.incubator workshop 2024 and welcome to our application process.
Please go through our checklist and verify that your project corresponds with the timeline and requirements of the workshop. Next, kindly submit the basic contact information of all three participants: director, producer, and editor. The fields marked in red are mandatory. Once you start the application, you can come back to it as many times as you want. Just make sure to 'save' each time you make any changes.
You will need the following materials before submitting your application:
1. An English-subtitled rough cut of your film or a selection of edited scenes with a minimum length of 40 minutes (mp4/mov, codec H264, resolution 1920 x 1080, bit rate 6 MB/s, sound stereo AC, max. 4 GB); an additional edited pilot/trailer/teaser of the film is an advantage
2. Film treatment based on the shot material
3. Short synopsis
4. Motivation letters from all the team members: director, editor and producer
5. Rough distribution strategy, including the estimated premiere time and place
6. Financing plan of the film (specify non-/confirmed funding)
7. Stills from your film
8. Portrait photo of the director, editor and producer, their CVs and contact information
9. Link to the previous film of the director and editor
All non-English visual materials (rough cuts) must be subtitled in English. It does not have to be a perfect translation, but it should make the storyline understandable to the viewer. We also recommend to subtitle English-speaking projects (to avoid misunderstandings due to sound quality or regional accents). We only accept digital files uploaded via this application form.
The applications close on January 25, 2024 (16:00 CET). Be aware that uploading the audiovisual materials may take some time.
The application is free of charge until January 15, 2024. After that date, the application fee will be 28 EUR.

Please note that your application will not be fully submitted without the visual materials of your project!
Please reduce your material to max. 90 min., and export it as ONE FILE ONLY, with the size of max. 4 GB (supported formats include MP4, AVI, MOV). PLEASE NAME THE FILE AS FOLLOWING: Project_title_YYYY_MM_DD_what_it_is (example: Lapu_2018_03_08_rough_cut) and ADD A BLACK TITLE CARD in the beginning with the following information:
- project title
- date
- what it is (rough cut or edited scenes)
- names/positions of all three team members
All the visual materials must be subtitled in English (it does not have to be a perfect translation, but it should make the storyline understandable for the viewer.)
If you want to apply with edited scenes instead of rough cut, please be aware:
• During the selection the film projects are considered primarily on the basis of your uploaded material. Your trailer and synopsis help us, but your audiovisual material is the most important factor in our decision.
• You are competing against projects in the rough cut stage with a structured "film architecture", so please be careful that your scenes are well selected and sorted, and that they show the main arch of the film's story, its main conflict, and the richness of your material. Please think about the order of the scenes and how you guide the viewer through the story.
• We need to know that you have very good access to your characters, so please don’t forget to include scenes where your characters are intimate/honest/revealing in front of the camera.
